Abstract: "In my architectural thesis, I explore the principles of architectural design to create a communal healing center in Biratnagar, Nepal, focused on mental health. Drawing from research at Shepard Pratt Mental Health Institution, Lakeshore Mental Health Home, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Nobel Medical College in Biratnagar, and Birat Nursing Home, I aimed to design a center that brings nature into the site. The chosen location, adjacent to Nobel Medical College, allows for an effective approach to addressing local mental health concerns. I used a combination of case studies, site analysis, and environmental psychology to inform the design process. My findings revealed that integrating natural elements within the center's design can significantly improve the well-being of its inhabitants by combating loneliness and promoting a healing microclimate."
