Abstract: Kochila Arts and Crafts had served as one of the essential components for sustaining life and as a source of income generation for the Tharu”s and other associated castes (close to tharus) of Eastern Terai. Over the time, the eastern terai people had developed their own way form of arts and crafts which is reflected on their cultures too. It not only solves their economic problem but also promotes and conserves arts and cultures. It can be developed into in to small scale industry and create many job opportunities. During the development of this thesis work many preliminary visits were conducted to the remote villages of Eastern Terai and Dang Valley. Many such personnel skillful in these forms of artistry were interviewed for the documentation and research purpose. During the research I find that most of them are of older age and very limited young people are involved. The mass of younger people involving in this sector needs to the increased for a better society in the future. Despite of its huge demand in the market, it cannot be produced in a bigger scale due to limited resource and skillful manpower. More than that private sector and the government sector need to be aligned for its promotion. In this time of technology and information these hidden skills of creating arts and crafts can gain popularity within no time and can create huge demand all over the globe. At present the artistry remains to a confined group of people which needs to be disseminated to the youths of present generation for the continuation of its social, cultural and economic values.
