Abstract: | In Nepal, an increasing number of children have been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and they are either educated in mainstream school systems or get exclusively therapeutic education. According to studies, most special education classes for autistic children must meet autistic children' spatial and sensory demands, whereas the rest of the mainstream educational environment does not. According to research, the educational environment can better assist autistic learners by providing both standard and therapeutic education while also meeting their spatial and sensory demands. This thesis proposes that autistic learners' sensory and spatial demands for their educational environment may be met by commencing the intervention as soon as feasible with intensive behavior therapy including the entire family and, in certain situations, a team of professionals. In the municipality of Mahalaxmi in the district of Lalitpur, this project is about 2 kilometers from the ring road highway. The research methodology for this topic includes a review of literature on educational design and the spatial needs of students with ASD, as well as a case study of national (Aavani Foundation – Hadigaun and Autism Care Nepal Society – Harisiddhi) and international (Action for Autism – New Delhi and SPARSH, A Special School, Hyderabad) facilities. Because children with autism are frequently irritated by sounds, color, brightness, texture, and so on, I sought to build this center in such a manner that it provides them with a stress-free atmosphere in which to study. As a result, I've preserved the parking, front garden, and admin block at the front of the site to serve as a barrier. Because autistic youngsters cannot navigate themselves and find it difficult to go long distances, I have given a quiet area and a bathroom for each of their two courses. I separated the classrooms based on the functional requirements of the children, keeping those who require assistance with everything in pre-primary block and those who require less assistance in block primary block. In therapy block, I have supplied speech, music, art, physical, occupational therapies as well as job-skills and life-skills rooms. I sought to define and illustrate the influence of behavioral patterns on spatial sequencing, appropriate construction materials, acoustics, colors and textures, circulation patterns, lighting, and ventilation in this thesis. I sought to analyze the psychology of children with Autism through this thesis and managed to give an acceptable remedy. The research and study conducted for this thesis supported the development of a center for autistic children that meets their needs by assessing new criteria based on inferences drawn from numerous case studies and literature reviews. I've also tried to study the influence of external factors on teaching tactics, answer the needs, uncertainties, and comforts of children with Autism, critically analyses appropriate ideas, and apply what I've learned to the design. |
