Abstract: Nowadays, the growth of robotics and autonomous systems has spread across various field including healthcare, manufacturing and warehousing, transportation, etc. This project focuses on the development of an autonomous robot utilizing the Robot Operating System (ROS) for integration and functionality. The robot is designed with the RP LiDAR sensor for the real-time environment representation and the detection of the obstacles in the way, and a Raspberry Pi as the CPU of the system that ensures cost and scalability. The robot makes use of navigation tools such as RViz and Gazebo, that are supported by the Robot Operating System (ROS) and serve as a robust test and validation platform in virtual environments before real-world deployment. This project confirms how autonomous robots can optimize the operations, human errors, and enhance service quality in various settings. By integrating ROS, LiDAR, and low-cost hardware, this project establishes a versatile and scalable framework that transcends conventional approaches, paving the way for innovative and adaptable solutions in future robotics applications.
