Abstract: This thesis explores the processes involved in designing a heritage hotel, where the preservation of historical and cultural elements harmonizes with the provision of modern amenities and comforts. "Heritage Hotel" refers to a hotel that incorporates elements of heritage, history, or cultural significance into its design, theme, or overall concept. Heritage hotels offer guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of history while enjoying contemporary hospitality. This aim is to design a heritage hotel which not only stands as a heritage but gives the guest live experience of indulging in the community. This thesis explores the in-depth background on the definition and history of evolution of hotels in Nepal. It further discusses key considerations in the design process. It explores strategies for integrating historical features such as traditional facades, ornate interiors, and cultural motifs with modern facilities like state-of-the-art technology, luxurious accommodations, and sustainable practices through the study of case studies. This Heritage hotel is basically a complex dedicated not only to target the tourists but also the local people. The complex has provided spaces to reflect the heritage of Bhaktapur through food, music, art and building form. The complex includes a hotel block, restaurant, gallery, meeting block, workshop and health block. An environment is created with concept of heritage walk, courtyards and inspiration from the streets of Bhaktapur.
