Abstract: Nepal is rich in its cultural diversity as well its historical significance. Despite of those richness, we are still not able to create stories reflecting our greatness in the form of art, plays and movies. We have failed to make noticeable mark on a global film industry. However, we are evolving from the conventional techniques of making movies to the modern technology. Also, there are emerging actors, directors, writers and producers willing to make an impact on the film industry and most of them have been successful in the present era of Nepali movies. But the number is very low in terms of the actual movies being produced and released. This is mostly because of the type of education system that has been prevailing in Nepal. Students lack practical knowledge as what they learn in school is drastically different from what they do in the actual profession, which makes their entry into the film industry much more difficult. This is due to the way the education system has been structured in the country which has created a huge gap between theory and practice. The institutions are not able to provide necessary facilities which are highly important in the film industry due to the lack of resources which highly impact the quality of the education they receive. The purpose of this thesis is to bridge the gap between the theory and practice of filmmaking through the design of a creative space for learning and presentation with introspective domain, exchange domain and presentation domain guiding the major requirements. In addition to the student, project also aims to include the public which are the inseparable part of the film industry to witness the creative process of filmmaking through organization of various events, film festivals and many more creating the interaction between the public and the film personnel, students and the professionals and other various professions. The film school will be tied together with the film studios, allowing the students to work closely with actual filmmaker. By this association, students get better opportunities to work with well known filmmakers and get the much-needed practical experience and inspiration.
