CREATIVE ARTISAN HUB

Abstract

The Creative Artisan Hub is a collaborative community that seeks to preserve and promote the traditional skills of pottery, wood working, and bamboo handicraft in Bhaktapur and throughout Nepal. Our mission is to create a platform where artisans can showcase their talents, uplift their livelihoods, and preserve traditional crafts for future generations. We recognize the value of these traditional crafts and the importance of keeping them alive in a world that is becoming increasingly industrialized. These crafts are not just about creating beautiful objects, but also about preserving cultural heritage and promoting sustainable livelihoods. As such, our approach is not just about providing training in industry-based skills, but rather, we focus on fostering creativity, innovation, and a deep appreciation for the cultural significance of these crafts. To achieve our goals, we hire native artisans who are experts in their crafts and have a deep understanding of their cultural significance. They provide training, workshops, and mentorship to aspiring artisans, passing on their skills and knowledge to future generations. Our approach is inclusive, and we welcome artisans from all backgrounds and skill levels. The Creative Artisan Hub provides a space where artisans can work together, share ideas, and inspire each other. We encourage creativity and experimentation, and we believe that the most innovative ideas come from collaboration and a willingness to take risks. Our workshops and training programs focus on developing skills and techniques that are rooted in traditional crafts, while also exploring new ideas and approaches. One of the main goals of the Creative Artisan Hub is to uplift the livelihoods of artisans and promote sustainable economic development. By providing a platform for artisans to showcase their talents, we help them gain visibility and recognition, which can lead to increased sales and better prices for their products. We also provide business support services, such as marketing and financial management, to help artisans develop sustainable businesses.
