Abstract: An ethnographic museum is a museum that gathers, preserves, and displays the artifacts and history of particular ethnic groups. It is a center for fostering and expressing culture. Nepal is renowned for being an ethnically, religiously, and linguistically diverse nation. There are 125 castes and ethnic groups in Nepal, according to the 2011 census. The biggest ethnic groups make up the more than 100 ethnic and caste groups that make up Nepalese society. The general ethnic group cultural traits that characterize Nepal around the globe include the clothing, cuisine, and artifacts. The initiative focuses on promoting the ethnic groups in the province of Bagmati. Being the most populous region in Nepal, it has a diverse range of communities and castes living there. The project's primary goal is to emphasize the diverse ethnic cultures of the Bagmati province through art, sculpture exhibitions, and cuisine. The ethnographic museum examines the customs and cultures of the region of Bagmati. The different castes of the Bagmati province are represented in the project, including the Tamang, Newar, Chhetris, Rai, Hill Brahmin, Chepangs, Kami, Sarki, Magar, Tharus, and Damai. The Himalayan region of Bagmati province is home the ancestors of Tamang and the Kathmandu valley to the Newar. Newar and Tamang people now inhabit the majority of the Bagmati province. These ethnic groups also define the cultural diversity of the province of Bagmati. The museum displays the ethnic groups' way of life, customs, tools of the day, culture, fields of work, and artifacts in the Bagmati province. The project focuses on two ethnic groups of Bagmati province: Tamang and Newar. The project provides the surface knowledge on the ethnic groups. The project also includes living museum of three model houses representing the traditional architectural of Newar, Tamang and Nepalese people living in hill of Bagmati province. Ethnographic museum is a non-profitable organization that displays various ethnic groups' ways of living. Additionally, it will support in the preservation of ethnic groups' traditional artifacts in the event that they are exhibited for future generations. The museum will offer a location with many uses that blends conventional methods of interpreting and conserving a variety of artifacts with needs for relaxation space, shop, café, parking, etc. As a result, the museum's primary goal is to create a place where visitors can spend their free time while experiencing the custom and architecture of various ethnic groups, in addition to displaying exhibits.
