dc.description.abstract | The cultural dances and music are the identity of all the nepalese people. Nepali music and dance are an integral part of Nepali culture and are deeply rooted in its history and traditions. Nepali music and dance are performed in various cultural events and festivals, such as weddings, religious ceremonies, and cultural festivals, and are also an important aspect of the tourism industry. The music and dance of Nepal are diverse, reflecting the country’s varied ethnic groups, languages, and religions. Nepal is comprises of different ethnic group who have their own culture and way of living. Among them newar community is one of them. In the present context these dances and music are not being abke to perform well. So this project is to provide people with training with dance and music and also the training for costume and mask making which is most required for cultural dances. The different case studies and literature review in the relevent topic were done before starting the project. Its very important to know about the different dances and musical instruments so study on different dances like Bhaila dance, Mahakali dance, Nilbarahi dance and musical instruments on Dhimay, Muhali, Khin are done. Study of places of training center, performance center and museum relevent to this project was done. For this the different case studies like Music Department, Patan Museum, Rastriya Naach Ghar, Taragoan Museum, Nepali Lok Baja Sangrahalaya, different dabali of patan durbar were done and In International context the case study of Jawahar Kala Kendra, Triveni Kala Sangam and Kalakshetra were done. The program formulation was prepared according to all these studies. The site for this design was considered based upon its surrounding environment, assessibility and availability of the resources so the appropriate site was proposed in Madhyapur Thimi Siddhikali, Bhaktapur. This project is done in madhyapur thimi because it is one of the forgotten heritage of valley which is rich in art and culture. The center is design to provide the training and performance of dance and music in Newar community so the building treatment is also based on the Newari Architecture which meets the modern day facilities. Also it provides the essence of the Newari community where the different courtyard will be enclosed with patis, dhungedhara, dabalis, temples. Both the indoor and outdoor trainings will be provided, different interaction space where people can interact with each other and learn more that helps for the betterment of cultural dances and music. | en_US |
