Abstract: The objective of this project is to design and analyze a single span truss bridge over Sardikhola, Kaski district using various bridge design theories and methods. As the bridge site is near to the Seti Hydropower and the means to connect many villages of Ghachok area, bridge is necessary at the proposed bridge site area. The design is built on a basis of structural mechanics and foundation engineering. The knowledge of influence line diagram, shear force diagram and bending moment diagram are the essential of this project. IRC and IS codes were used as the guidelines in the design of the bridge. The superstructure components for truss (top chord, bottom chord, vertical member, inclined member, cross girder, stinger etc.) and slab have been designed under class 70R and class A loading as prescribed by IRC. Effective width method was used in analysis of the slab. The substructure components include pot bearing, abutments, and foundation. Considering the various forces acting on the substructure, open foundation is provided and the abutment is gravity type. The codes referred for truss bridge design are IRC 6-2017, IRC 112-2011, IRC 78-2014, IRC 21-2000, IS 800, IS 808, IRC 24-2010, IRC 83 Part III, etc. Hence with the help of our supervisor and the available materials and data, we have made an effort to design and analyze the truss bridge.
