Biruwa Naturopathic Healing & Wellness Retreat with a total area of 11.89 Ropani serves as an essential environment to relax our mind body and soul from the daily hustle-bustle and chaotic urban life. A peaceful and harmonious life can be attained when there is coherence in our mind, body and spirit. However, human beings, by nature, are social creatures. Our connection to others is key to not only our survival, but also to our happiness, well-being and success i.e mental, physical and social wellbeing. Hence, it is not enough to focus only on individual welfare. We must also learn to nurture the relationships in our lives and foster our place in and with the community around us. The aim is to design a place where one can be in tune with, the local community. Happiness and peace can only be achieved when there is equilibrium within the self, the community and nature. The methodology includes various processes such as literature reviews, case studies, site selection, and program formulation. The design process involved a comprehensive analysis of the site (Biruwa, Bhaktapur) and an understanding of the programs required for this project. By considering the existing site situation, a specific functions were incorporated by defining different zoning. The retreat center is designed as a vacation destination but also a self-healing platform. The design of the building and the surrounding offer a platform to provide optimum hospitality to the guests. The combination of architect and hospitality facilitate the guest’s requirements. “Biruwa Naturopathic Healing and Wellness Retreat” provide massage therapy, sauna, steam, hot baths, nutritious and healthy diet, meditation/yoga, and accommodation (20 people) to help people achieve whole some body health and balance. To be healthy, which is also the body’s natural state of being self, one has to retreat from the polluted lifestyle and go back to nature, to clear out the destructive changes in body, mind and soul. “Biruwa Naturopathic Healing and Wellness Retreat” Center is an escape from the chaotic hustle and bustle in addition to the polluted environment that the city dwellers have to endure on a daily basis.en_US
