Museums are ambiguous spaces. On the one hand, they provide some models built on social perceptions, and on the other, they are places open to interpretation. They are relational spaces. Spaces of various types of relations like institutional, interpersonal, international, intergeneration or intercultural relations. They are also places of relations and dialogue, establishing and negotiating meanings. In any event, museums are also, and perhaps above all, stories about people, events and the effects of their meetings. Hence, the aim was to design a place where we could preserve the historical elements and learn from them. The methodology includes various process like literature reviews, case-studies, site selection, program formulation. The design process initiated with a comprehensive analysis of the site and an understanding of the programs required for such a project. Site specific functions were incorporated as well into the overall programmatic layout. The concept and design were generated in parallel. This report consists of literature review, case studies relevant to my project, site study and its justification, a basic concept before designing, program formulation , zoning and design development. For the completion of the project, several field visits were undertaken such as : Bhaktapur Durbar Museum, Patan Durbar Museum and Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Museum which helped me in expanding required knowledge and ideas on the project. Hence, the integration of all this information onto this project was an artful inspiration of all these emits.en_US
